BCA Delegation Discusses Hospitality Tax & Energy Relief

"Senior BCA leadership met Members of Parliament at the House of Commons to present crucial economic recommendations for the curry sector."

A senior executive delegation from the Bangladesh Caterers Association held high-level policy roundtables in the Houses of Parliament with cross-party MPs, Treasury select committee members, and industry advocates to address severe cost pressures confronting high-street caterers.

The primary focus of the presentations centered upon:
1. Urgent reform of commercial business rates and the establishment of permanent relief thresholds for independent hospitality venues.
2. A targeted reduction of the hospitality VAT rate to 10-12%, aligning the UK with major European tourism destinations to stimulate local high streets.
3. Enhanced protection against extortionate commercial energy tariffs and unfair contract termination penalties imposed by utility brokers.
4. Flexible skilled culinary visa frameworks that recognize specialist spice blending and tandoor cooking as certified culinary professions.

Parliamentarians commended the BCA for its rigorous, evidence-based economic submission. Several MPs committed to raising these recommendations during Treasury parliamentary debates and upcoming Budget scrutiny hearings.
